Preschool Thanksgiving Program

On the way home from school on Wednesday, Samantha was singing all the Thanksgiving songs that she had learned at school. They were so cute and I enjoyed my little performer in the backseat. One song was about being thankful for things and I could tell that Ms Mary Kay asked each of the students what they were thankful for and added that to the song. Samantha sang about being thankful for the sun, the leaves on the trees, her school, and her dog. Then she asked me what I was thankful for and we sang about being thankful for family and our home. It was so cute I was hoping I could get her to sing it on video once we got home.
Unfortunately, this is what I got...

Pure silliness! Haha!

The school puts on a quick little Thanksgiving program where the children dress up and sing. Afterwards there is a "Thanksgiving feast". Parents and church members are invited to attend.
Samantha loves to sing and loves to perform. "Mama, I get to be a piwgwim and wear a hat!" She loves hats. "Miss Ellie made dem special for us!" Then she asked me, "Mama, are you coming?" My heart broke on the inside when I told her I wasn't (even though I wanted to more than anything!), but that Daddy was coming. Isn't that exciting? She was excited!

So Thursday morning I dressed her in her cute Fall outfit and wished I didn't have to go to work. I kissed her good luck and told her to have a blast singing for her Daddy. I was sad but I don't let her see that. I don't want to take away from her joy because of how I'm feeling. She can be excited for her day and that her Daddy will be there. The only one missing out is me.
At 11am I got teary eyed at the lunch table as I told my colleagues what I was missing... Unfortunately working mamas can't make it to everything.

She had a great time performing and having lunch with her Daddy. It was a good day! I loved seeing these when I got home from work.

When we got home she let me take a picture of my little pilgrim.
My pretty girl!

At the end of the day, she finally agreed to sing for me:

Love it!

  1. Tell her thank you for singing for Gramma and Papa! We love to hear her sing her songs since we live all the way in California. Let's see....we are thankful for our children and their wonderful husbands, and for our grandchildren: Trenton, Joshua, Isaac and SAMANTHA!!!! Kisses and HUGS!
