"That's Texas for ya, everyone is so trusting. California moms would never go for this."
"Who is crazy enough to take Pre-K students on a field trip?"
"I thought this didn't happen until 3rd grade."
"I want to go!!!"
I do find it to be true though that Texas has less "helicopter parents" and people are more willing to trust their children to other adults. I absolutely love Samantha's teacher and I think she will take care of my child, but still... so many things could go wrong.
The excitement over this opportunity for her outweighs my fears however. I know I have an independent, capable young lady who will be obedient and cautious, and hopefully will not only be safe but have a blast!
Of course the night before Joe and I talked to her about safety and staying with the group. Then we talked about how much fun it would be and how proud we are that she is growing up. Only big girls go on field trips.
So I packed her a brown bag lunch and dressed her in the red shirt her teacher requested. She was full of excitement on the way to school. I put her on the bus this morning like I always do and waved goodbye. Yes, I may have cried a little bit today as the bus pulled away. I cannot believe she is growing up so fast! It's exciting to see these "firsts" and know that she is ready for them. I'm so proud of her.
I cannot wait to hear how much she enjoyed the trip to 7 Acre Wood!
All ready to go this morning. First field trip!
On the bus to go to school with Bentley. They were both so excited about field trip day!
Ms Kramr texted us a picture as they headed off to 7 Acre Wood.
This morning Sam said she didn't care who she sat next to on the bus, just as long as she could TALK! Haha!
I bet she wanted to ride the pony!
Her teacher is so wonderful and took a bunch of pictures!
Looks like they had a blast! So much to do!
