Wow, what a FUN weekend! Samantha was such a blast this year. The festivities started off with a Halloween party at her daycare. Rosie is awesome when it comes to parties. All the kids came in their costumes. I was worried about getting Samantha's bee costume messed up so I sent her as a Hawaiin Hula Girl. She was so cute! Rosie had tons of treats and the kids put together a haunted gingerbread house. How Rosie puts up with all that stickiness I'll never know!
The weekend was spent at the river. On Saturday they had a carnival with fun little games and prizes for the kids. Samantha liked the ball toss and squeeled with delight when throwing the ping pong balls into the "fish pool". Then Jamie helped her decorate a pumpkin with colorful markers and Daddy helped her throw bean bags at the can pyramid. Then it was naptime! Jamie and I decorated the Ranger while Sammie slept. The Trick or Treating caravan started at 3 and I had to wake her up from her nap to get ready and going so she was a little grumpy at first. She soon warmed up to the idea of being in her bee costume with Reggie and Jamie (a beautiful angel) and riding in the Ranger. All the children in the park met at the store chauffered by their parents in golf carts. It's so much fun seeing all the kids dressed up and driving through the park stopping at different campsites to trick or treat. Many spots had "treats" for the adults too! : ) I adored seeing my little cutie toddling around in her little bee costume! So cute! At first she didn't understand what we were doing, but when she saw that people were giving her treats she was all about it! (It feels kinda weird as a parent encouraging your child to take candy from strangers. Just saying.) Of course she wanted to eat a treat right away. She's her mama's girl when it comes to candy! I don't let her have it often so she took full advantage of the day. I also want to add how proud I was of her. There were no tantrums, she thanked everyone for her treats, and so many people commented on how adorable she was. It was a fun family day.
Monday night was the carnival at my parents church. More Halloween fun! We trick or treated there and had dinner. Samantha was enthralled with all the costumes. She LOVED the princesses and there was a green dinosaur she kept running up to and hugging. I was impressed with her assertiveness. Now she knew the drill. Say "trick or treat" and someone gives you candy! Yay! After the carnival we went home and trick or treated around to a few houses in the neighborhood. As we walked up to one house I asked, "what are you going to say?" Sam replied, "Happy Birthday!" Haha! When the neighbors did answer the door, she ended up saying, "I get a treat!" That was funny too. At least she remembered to say "Thank you!"
