Playdate with Savanna & Bristol

I met one of my friends today. That's right, I got to meet a friend of mine. It was the first time seeing her in person. I am a part of an online mommy group. We have all been together since our babies were born in September 2009. We share parenting advice and experiences. We ask each other opinions on daily life struggles, home making, and since we are girls, clothes too! We've shared things about our families, careers, and pretty much everything else. The longer we are together as a group, the more we share, the more we support and pray for each other, the closer we all become.
So my friend Savanna was going to be in San Diego for the weekend and we scheduled a time to meet up. I was nervous driving to the park this morning. Nervous but oh so excited! I couldn't wait to see and talk to her in person. I was excited to see her kids and husband too! Bristol is her daughter who was born in September like Samantha. I was hoping they would love playing with each other.
It's funny. I've known Savanna for over two years and know what she looks like and have a pretty good idea of her personality type. But it's different when you actually meet someone in person. You get to hear her voice and see her mannerisms as she talks and interacts with you and the kids. It brings the whole person together.
I am so glad I got to meet her. She is such a sweet and caring person. I loved seeing her interact with her kids and her husband. She speaks so kindly and lovingly towards them. Bristol and Samantha were shy at first (well Samantha was shy, even though she told me in the car that Bristol would be the shy one!). After a short while, they were eventually following each other around the playset and running after one another through the grass. We spent time playing on the play set and took a nice walk around the park looking at the birds, trees, and exploring the creek with it's bridges. My favorite part of the day, Bristol held my hand as we walked. Such a sweet baby...I mean big girl!!! I can't wait for these girls to get together again. I think they liked each other. I also hope to spend some more time with Savanna. I really like my friend, online and in real life!
