Snow Day

Samantha gets to experience snow for the first time today. I'm a little sad that I don't get to see it. As a working mom, there are many "firsts" that you miss. It may seem silly, it's just snow, but there is a little ache in my heart, wishing I could be there. Of course I am super excited for her! A snow day at school! How much fun is that!!!
So yesterday in the car I began talking to Sam about the upcoming fun...
"Do you know what snow is?"
"Uh, uh. It's like a...traffic light!"   Trying to draw something from what she has seen on Frosty the Snow Man video.
"Well, it's lots of fun to play with. It is icy, and cold, and slippery!"
"I'm gonna make a snow man...or maybe a snow FISH!"     Her imagination gets going and then she bursts into song as I giggle about a snow fish.   "Fwosty da snow man is a jolly happy sooooul! Wif a cum-cob bop and a button nose and two eyes may out a coooooal!"
"What about a snow angel? Do you know how to do that? Like the star fish in Nemo?"
     "In da tank? Yah!"
"Ok, when we get home I'll show you how to do it. We will practice. And then tomorrow you can teach Emma Rose how to do it in the snow."
"OK, we will make snow angels...and I'm gonna show Emma Rose and Caitlin too!"
So when we got home last night I showed my sweet little three year old girl how to make a snow angel on the living room rug. She smiled and laughed! I hope she remembers to do it today.

Checking out the sleds.
What is this stuff?
Miss Mary Kay sledding with Sam. She smiled when she saw this pic and said she had fun!
All the kids waiting their turn to sled. Is that my child eating snow?
Yep! I asked her how it tasted. "Dirty! Yuck!"
Bubbles!
Sam said, "Snowflakes!"
All the kids playing in the bubbles.

Dancing in the bubbles.

After all the fun with snow, the kids went inside to play "Row, row, row your boat!" (well, that's what Sam calls it.

Looks like it was a fun day!!!

  1. I'm jealous of Miss Mary Kay...! Looks like a great fun day, but really, when she actually goes to the SNOW, and has to walk in it and fall in it with Mommy and Daddy - THAT will be her first time in the snow.
