Precious Memories

Oh how I love vacation time. It really is the main reason why I simply cannot look for a job in any other field than teaching. And believe me, I've thought of it. Especially this year. But all the struggles, extra hours, and crappy teenage attitudes are worth it when I am off of work for a week. I get to enjoy my family. I have the time to make my husband breakfast before he leaves for work in the morning and Samantha and I get to wave good-bye to him from the front door. I also get to spend precious time with my constantly changing and too quickly growing little girl.

She is something else. At times she is "where did you get that" stubborn, or "how can I keep up with you" energized, or "aren't you a little young for this" emotional, or even "do you think you are a princess" demanding. Oh yes, three year old little girls are not easy. But...

She is amazing. I love how she is always singing or humming when she is happy. I love how she makes up her own songs and if you try to correct her she gets mad. I love her imagination and the stories she creates and loves to tell. I love watching her play pretend with her babies, squinkies, and animals. I love how she loves everything little and baby and wants everything to be cute and snugly.

We have had two great days together. Yesterday, we went to the doctor for a well visit. Even though she did not want to go once we got there the whining stopped and she impressed me with her maturity and charm. She introduced herself to the doctor and answered all her questions. She even told the nurse she was ready for her shot and barely cried when it hurt a little. I took her to Incredible Pizza to ride a few rides afterward as a treat! It was so much fun watching her run around excitedly and enjoy herself. We had a blast together!

Today was special too. She took a bubble bath in the big tub this morning and we ran some errands afterward. She was simply an enjoyable companion. Then there are those moments that make your eyes well up, hoping that what you just saw and heard will forever be imprinted in your memory and on your heart. For I know that these moments won't last forever and that before I know it she will be all grown up...

"Samantha, are you ready for nap?"
"Hmmhmm" and she climbs down from the table and starts skipping toward her bedroom - curls bouncing - singing, "Welcome to Agape Land", except it sounds more like, "welcome to da copy land, welcome to da copy land..."
All of a sudden she stops dead in her tracks and turns around, "I gotta get my fwiends so da munsters don't get me!" She grabs her "baba" and stuffed animals, arms full, and scurries to her bedroom.
Absolute cuteness!!!
